Global Read Aloud

This term we will be participating in the Global Read Aloud. We will be connecting with schools from around the globe to share our thoughts. The premise is simple; we pick a book to read aloud to our students during a set 6-week period and during that time we try to make as many global connections as possible. 5 W will be reading ‘The Fourteenth Goldfish’ by Jennifer L. Guess what day today is? Is it my birthday? No, is it ‘All You Do Is Sit Down and Watch TV Day? No! It is it international wear a soft orange crocodile onesie day? Yes it is because a long time ago there was such thing as an orange crocodile but they became extinct because some very CRAZY scientist accidently “forgot” that you could not spray pepper spray at orange crocodiles and they all became extinct.  The date we remember when all the crocodiles became extinct was 24.09.2014!

On the way back home I saw Pepper, our dog. I said to mum, “Pull over mum, it’s Pepper!” I saw a soft orange crocodile in Pepper’s mouth. When we got to the side of the road Pepper was bringing my crocodile to me. My mum said, “You little rascal, you lied to mummy! Your soft orange crocodile would have been fine, let’s go home now.”

Savvina’s 100 Word Challenge

Once there was an orange crocodile his name was Mr. Croc.

One day Mr. Croc went to the markets he wanted to get pepper. On the way there he saw a puppy so he pat it on the head. The puppy was really soft. Then he saw that the puppy had no collar so he took it home. After he went home he had to name him. He thought Pepper would be a nice name and then remembered that he forgot to get pepper from the shops so he went to the shops and got pepper.

Ethan’s 100 Word Challenge

”Stop hitting me!” said Massey, as her seven year old brother kept hitting her with his toy crocodile. “NO! You stole my soft pillow!” said Mason. Massey only took the pillow because she spilt orange juice on it, then she forgot about it and put her pink shirt with pepper stains in with it, so the pillow got all pink and peppery.

Massey didn’t want to tell Mason because she knew he loved his pillow so she went to Big-W to buy Mason a new one. When she got home she handed it to Mason, “Thanks,” said Mason.
